I managed to catch or trap 34 of the cats and relocate them to our new location. Despite my best efforts, 7 still eluded me.
Even after we moved, I went back several times with traps and carriers to try and catch them. I even had a former student help me, with infra-red cameras, special traps, etc. However I was determined not to give up. I had obtained permission from the property owners next door to continue trapping and I stopped by to put food out for them.
Saturday was my husband's family's family reunion so I couldn't go that day. S0 yesterday I went to try again. To my horror, I discovered that my former landlord had poisoned the cats! I almost instantly found four of their bodies a stone's throw from where I used to feed them and it was obvious they had been poisoned. I continued to look for more bodies but it got too dark in the woods and I had to leave. Unfortunately, since I did not actually see him poisoning the cats, the police can do nothing.
R.I.P. Snowy, O.G. Wolfie, Tookie, Mini Grey, Pee Wee, Bo Bo and Butters. Until we meet again my loves.
