I have had my heart rate monitor (HRM) for about a year now. Maybe longer. I've used it almost every time I've worked out since I got it. In other words, it is not new.
So imagine my surprise when I heard it beep on Saturday.
I knew that I would be mowing and trimming our yard on Saturday. With our wet spring and busy lives, the lawn hasn't been mowed as consistently as it should. And, when it was mowed, the grass wasn't always bagged (read - not bagged at all!). That combination meant a long mowing session was in my future. Just for giggles (yes, I'm easily entertained) I decided to compare the calorie burn on my HRM with what SP gave me.
Since I wear gloves to trim and mow, I turned on my HRM while I was still in the garage, before staring any machinery. And it beeped! Then...throughout my mowing escapade, when I stopped to empty the bag, I would hear it beep again! Apparently, it is supposed to beep. I just never heard it before! I've always had music going before.
The things you learn when you pay attention to your surroundings. Who'd a thunk it?
