I'm starting my 2nd month of low carb eating. It's had its ups and downs. So far I've had two episodes of absolute misery when I ate something that I've now developed a food sensitivity to. It happens very quickly after I eat the offensive foods. My stomach starts to hurt like someone is in my gut with a knife - stabbing and stabbing in multiple places. But they are miniture knives and there are hundreds of them. Then the nausea sets in and it takes about 4 hours for it to pass. Water didn't help. Tums didn't help. Anti-gas meds didn't help. Nothing helped.
What's really fun about this game is I don't always know what food will set it off. I figured out wheat, but was totally taken by surprise when eating peanuts did the same thing.
A bit of research turned up an article relating low carb diets and food intolerance.
Oh joy, I could become so sensitive to protiens that I can't eat any except red meat. Or well, there are a lot of proteins that I could react to. It doesn't say that just because you have one or two that you get all of them. Soooo...I'm thinking a few more grams of carbs and a few less grams of protein will probably help balance out my system. (At least I hope so.)
