Bounce... bounce... bounce... repeat...

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

I cannot run - I can walk *forever* but I cannot run.

I bought this trampoline 26 years ago, when I had just lost 40 lbs and met my Ray and I did use it quite a bit back then... until we rolled it on it's side and it became a "clothes hanger" using the legs.
emoticon
I asked Ray to "dig it out" for me again last week - it was so hard on me that it was all I could do to "run in place" for one minute! I did it twice a day, right after my walks.
Today I can do 5+ minutes on it! emoticon

I started with counting my steps - started at 100 *right steps* and worked my way up to 500 *right steps* ( I only count when the right leg lands) and I am going to work my way up to 10 minutes of running in place.

Mine is a cheapie that cost me $20 back in 1985 and although the feet are showing a bit of rust and the leather wrap is all stretched out, the springs look new.

Just another option for people like me who cannot run. It feels so good I wanted to share with SparkLanders!

@Destinye - I have read online that rebounding is very good for the lymphatic system.

FYI, Walmart has one for $30

**what was I thinking?! I ordered 2 rebounder videos - shoot, I can barely get my feet off the darn trampoline, how am I supposed to step-kick, lol.

--KREN shared this with me and it really is great! I bounced "around" and really felt it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Be aware, I googled it and the lady's mini trampoline of choice is nearly $400! In my dreams!!

I have one of those, had it in the family room so I would use it...did some then the grandkids used it the most. Moved it to the basement then onto it's side against the wall. I bought it after seeing Sparkguy use it with his kids. It is so stiff it is hard on the feet. Did you find any special way of using it? What is the video like?

You seem naturally "bouncy" to me! This seems like the perfect exercise tool for you. Does it get your heart rate up? How do you feel after a session on it? Nosy minds want to know, lol. Karen

Love love love this idea -- like you, I loved running and cannot do it any more (hip/knee issues).

Ohhh, I had one of those years ago and loved it--until it too became a clothes hanger, LOL! I say find something you enjoy doing for exercise and just DO it; doesn't have to be running or swimming or biking or whatever someone else is doing. Make it fun and it will get done, and that is definitely fun!

Good for you! I guess I should utilize the kids' trampoline and do the same. Thanks for the reminder.

I have seen them advertised either on QVC or HSN I can't remember which and I have thought about buying one. But I will at least wait until fall. Camp and leslie give me over 2 hours of exercise every day.

Love you,
Marty

I love rebounders! Enjoy using it again. The one I had back in 1983 was expensive, they were selling for $200. My grandmother sold it to me for cost. But the springs still break! Bounce away!

A friend of the family purchased one for my little one - she loves it - I can honestly say I never thought about using it. I may just have to try it out !! Thanks for the tip.

Cool... never thought of this an exercise...great way to switch it up to avoid the boredom... I love to walk but sometimes it would be different to just do something new. Or on one of those rare days we get rain in L.A. and I usually use that as an excuse to skip a day !! LOL...
Think I will start browsing for one next time I am near a sporting goods store..or maybe even Target or WalMart has one !

I use a rebounder every day I don't hike and it is great exercise, I do arm and weights on it too. Also very good for the lymphatic system.

    Great Idea!
I had one years ago. Maybe I should get another one, sinc my knees won't put up with the pounding of running anymore.

Cool! I'm glad you could still find yours! I had one about the same time frame you stated ( about 26 years ago ) , but mine was stored poorly and rusted out long ago and had to be trown out. Would like another, but storage is still an issue. Oh well. You bounce for me, ok? Besides good exercise, they're fun, too!!! emoticon

Made me think of Tigger too!

Bounce well and Bounce happy my friend.

Always great to add new, exciting things to the day to keep moving. Bringing back an old fun friend is even better.

Sometimes I wonder about all the exercise equipment stored in someone's house that they never use (and will never use). Does it feel lonely and unloved? I could be playing with it and showing it some luv... emoticon Love to try some more of the WII games.... ah...wishful thinking!
