Well I'm trying!

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

So far things have not been going very smoothly. After 3 jogs with my friend, I managed to hurt my knee. I went twice more before finally realizing that I needed to *stop* until it was completely better (for more than 1 day at a time). Doc told me to stay off it for 2-3 weeks. That means I can start again Monday or the week after.
I *have* been to the gym twice. Once each of the last two Tuesdays. I didn't make it today, but I'm hoping to either tomorrow or Thursday. I can always go on the weekend if it works out that way.
My weight and measurements have been extremely disheartening tho. :( I started out this month up 2 lbs. I wasn't terribly surprised. I haven't been bothering with it at all, and I was *very* stressed during May, trying to make decisions about going back to school and what schools I might attend. I did make my decision, so that has taken off a lot of the stress. Those 2 lbs are part of what got me back to the grind. But since restarting my weight-loss efforts at the beginning of June, I managed to GAIN another 6.6 lbs. So I was up a total of 8.4 lbs this last weigh in on Sat. I was gaining it gradually, at 2 lbs/week, and I'm certainly not eating 7000+ extra calories a week, which had me concerned that it was something like hypothyroidism or something. I stepped on the scale today and was glad to see that 3 had come back off *finally*, so it would appear that at least *some* of it was water weight... Here's hoping I can continue the trend back down now and hopefully down into the 120's! If it starts getting weird again, I will talk to the doctor about it.

I have not been healthy now for about 2 months anyway. I'm fighting a cough that just won't go and I'm on my second sinus infection during it. My body is tired and my muscles are sore and awkward. Dunno what's up but I hope we figure it out soon. (Granted the strength training is probably contributing to the latter.) Ah well. I will continue in my efforts. I'm too stubborn not to. I WILL make it back down to around 125 or so, even if it takes me another 2 years... to lose these last 10 (make that 15) lbs. I would *like to make it closer to 120, but my body has changed drastically in the 12 years since I was last that weight, (I've had 2 babies, for one thing!) so I don't expect everything to be the same. We'll see how it goes. :)

Maybe the weight gain was too much sodium. I have found since I lost weight that if I eat alot of chips for example I can add 2-3 lbs w/o trying. Luckily it drops right off ~ phew! emoticon
