Accountability - July

Sunday, July 03, 2011

Hi, again! emoticon

In June, I acknowledged how much I've backslid during a stressful and chaotic time in my life. My June stats were pretty grim:

June weight: 287 lbs.
waist: 54 inches
% lard: 52
BMI: 50

I had knee surgery a few days ago and gained 11 lbs. of water and inflammation, which I am still losing. Still, I've made some progress:

current weight: 283.8
waist: 53 inches
% lard: 50.6
BMI: 48.7

So down a few pounds, down an inch on the waistline, down a bit on the % lard, and some progress on the BMI. At 50, I was classified as "super obese". Now, at 48.7, I'm considered "morbidly obese". Yay? emoticon Yeah. I've a ways to go, but at least I'm moving in the right direction.

I am on crutches and not able to really do much yet. I don't know how long I'll be laid up, so in July, I'm going to focus on excellent eating choices.

July goals: 15 lbs. (the rest of the surgery weight plus a bit more)
waist: 50
% lard: under 50
BMI: 46

I AM SURE YOU CAN DO IT. BUT "15 LBS" IN ONE MONTH??

BE CAREFUL.

I AM HOPING TO LOSE 5 EACH MONTH. OF COURSE, I'VE LOST AND GAINED SO MANY TIMES MY POOR BODY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. AND IT REALLY COMES OFF SLOWER AT MY AGE.

JUST DON'T HURT YOURSELF OLD GAL.

I wouldn't normally suggest this, but had you talked to your doctor about possibly using water pills to get rid of the surgery water weight you've gained. I know that when I had my back surgeries, the doc put me on them for a few days beacuse he wanted to relieve any extra stress the water weight was adding to my back. The same may apply to your knee. I'm not saying to use them strictly as a diet aide, but it is something worth discussing with your doctor if you are interested.

Either way, Chip, I know you will do good. We both haave to be in good shape for January. Hey...we could even get matching outfits for the Relay!

I hate the "MO" word. My mother always said, "I'm petite underneath." Just remember that! ;0)
Keep talking, we're listening. emoticon emoticon

Way to go for heading in the right direction!!! The only thing you can do recovering from knee surgery is hit the pool. Use a flotation belt and work out in the deep end, no impact to the knee but a great workout! Of course, healthy eating is a must, watching and tracking calories very carefully which is what I am gearing up to do with this horrible foot surgery coming up.
Hope you have a fast recovery and get back to normal soonest!

    Yay for the progress!
Those classifications for obesity sure don't make any sense. You would think 'Morbidly Obese' would be the last one!

So glad you've dropped a category, though!
