OMG What happened to human contact.

Ok this really dose not have any thing to do with weight loss or diet not even exercise.

As Americas waist lines get bigger. hear is some thing to think about.

I was in the truck with a bunch of teen age girls. We wear going to see Monti Carlo. I think the only conversation during a 30 mil trip was"I like your facebook status"

OK I think I am the only person under the age of 90 that dose not have a cell phone, facebook page, Twitter account. Hell I don't even have a e-bay account. Don't get me wrong I think it is great that you can make friends with people around country and the world. (like all the great people I have got to know on SP)

I remember as a kid growing up in the 80s. We never called our friends we rode are bike to their houses. We did not sit around for days on end playing video games. (my son just got of of a 24 hour game session at a friends house). We did not pop in a movie. We got a game of baseball going with the kids around the neighbor hood. If we went to see a movie it took 5 hours of walking around the mall to decide on what to see.

I know things have changed. I know for most family's both parent work. And are GREAT COUNTRY is not as safe as it use to be. But their is some thing wrong when you have a truck full of girls and they are to busy playing with their phones to talk to one another.

I have an almost 4 y.o. girl. I am not entirely sure how I am going to keep her active and interactive when she goes to school and begins to get more involved with these things. We do have a TV and I am trying now to decrease the amount of time it is on.

Very different world from when I was young.

Kinda sad, isn't it? But I'm pretty guilty of this myself.

I totally get this! I'm a teacher, I have watched communication change from sentences, to words, to letters. We have to teach verbal communication in schools because kids don't know how to do it face to face anymore. I do have a cell phone, and am computer literate as far as facebook etc., but it is hard to see kids glued to technology... Half the time they are in the same room, texting one another!

I've recently been trying to develop a better relationship with my half-sister who is 15. If we talk on the phone she is also texting, emailing and somehow technologically communicating with as many other people as possible. I go through the effort of planning a fun day out with her (she lives in another city) and she spends the whole time texting her friends or posting about how she's out with me having such a good time on FB. She will even put on her headphones in the car seat next to me so she can listen to her own music instead of talking or listening to music with me. It drives me bananas.

I get it! LOL. I do have a cell phone and FB page. Sometimes I catch my husband and I looking at our cell phones when we go out to eat and I usually say something like has our relationship really broken down so much that we can't make chit chat over a meal.

emoticon my first grader was communicating w/her friend right next to her w/her DS game (small handheld device)Thankfully this was after her swim lesson & a walk so I didn't mind but I completely understand that if I let them they'd watch tv from am to night.
