My Mammogram

Saturday, July 02, 2011

A few days before my mammogram, I was nervous and scared. U see I have a history of breast cancer in my family. My aunt was my mother as far as I was concerned. She raised me since I was 4 years old. I grew up as a polite and repectable woman in the south.

While I was in college, my aunt got seriously sick from her chemo. So I came home and took care of until she had to be hospitalized. After about five months, on Valentine's Day, the lord and savior, Jesus Christ called her home so she would no longer suffer anymore.

Women 40 and older must get a mammogram every year. It's important to get early detection. Early detection of breast cancer is vital and having a clinical breast exam on a regular basis are the most effective ways to detect breast cancer early. While I was waiting to be called next, I thought this will save me or cure me.

I would say that the young lady did her job well but it did hurt a little bit. They used a machine to mash ur breast down. She asked about my family history too. After 4 pic I was told to go home and in 5 days, I would be sent a letter. I received my letter with good results and oh I was so relieved. But also don't forget to do self exam for bumps and lumps. This will also help to detect early cancer.

Take care my emoticon.

Love u all

So glad your mammogram turned out fine. My mother had breast cancer and went through more than I like to remember.

emoticon I'm so happy your mammogram turned out fine. I've never had one, but I'm going to make an appointment to have one. I usually wait for things to happen before going to the doctor, but this time I'm going to give being proactive a try. Thanks, and again, glad everything turned out fine. emoticon
