Today is better!

Saturday, July 02, 2011

Feeling much better today than yesterday...think I just needed to rest and recover from extra long, hard run Tuesday plus drive up and back from MI, visits and shopping Thursday.

My DS (21) took me out last night for a delayed Mother's Day present - dinner and a movie. He searched on line and found a great restaurant, nothing fancy but good, healthy food. I had a salad w/their own vinaigrette, plus quinoa w/a mix of veggies reduced (?) in balsamic vinegar -lots of portabella s'rooms, red peppers, onions, some zucchini and summer squash. Glad I ordered the smaller portion, it was very filling. A bit too much vinegar for me by the end. Will try it at home though. Working on serving an occasional veg meal. Plus they had GREAT bread - the kind you really need to chew. No desert, a cup of decaf

Then we went to see Midnight in Paris - a beautiful, funny romantic Woody Allen movie - one of his best. Many of his films were love films to NYC, this was to Paris....ahhhh! Someday!

Hot, humid w/thunderstorms coming in today, so staying in AC, organizing tax papers, may even get yearly updated on-line free credit reports. Plus trying SP recipe for corn relish and making a WW angel food/pineapple cake to decorate tomorrow w/lite cool whip and strawberries & blueberries to take to friends for a day visit. AND will do strength exercises as I haven't since Monday.

I am feeling so much better than 1 year ago, though we were on vacation in MI then. I am no longer angry at the congregation who asked me to resign. I am in love with the congregation I am serving God with, spending time this summer making plans for the fall. Plus I will visit parishoners I haven't spent time w/in a while - it is so wonderful to be able to visit during non-crisis times.

Wed I spoke w/the director of the mission site we (me, youth & other adult chaperones) will be going to July 17-22nd. I asked about being able to run; about 1/2 mile away from the church we will be staying at is the river w/paths along side. Plus, the director used to teach beginning runners in Chicago and was excited to run w/me and one of the other mothers. So, we will be able to get in our 2x runs the week before our 5K. Eating will be an issue as it is cheap, filling youth oriented food - but I will make the best choices I can and recognize it is only for 5 days.
