I've just started the second week of an 8-Week Spark program. Up until three months ago, I had been ignoring my health and breaking promises to my doctor. Now I can handle moderate exercise without distress; stairs are no problem. Before starting the 8-Week program I had just completed a local 10-week walking program where I lost 9.5 pounds. I feel great about that. So, I started Spark's 8-week program with a bit of momentum. I'm hoping to average losing 2.5 pounds per week over the first four weeks, and 2 pounds per week for the last four weeks, that is 18 pounds over the whole 8 weeks. It is reasonable for me, especially since I had a gradual start to weight loss and exercise through the local ten week walking program. Using short term goals and successes can be a great advantage. On the other hand, it's important not to fall into the pitfall of demanding too much from yourself too quickly.
