Lost and Confused

This is the first time I have ever tried a blog entry but here goes, I will be 69 in Sept. and it seems I have given up on losing weight. The over 60 team with a 100 to 200 lbs to lose is great and are doing a good job trying to keep me motivated. I have set a goal to lose 15 lbs by the end of Sept. I am going to start walking again starting this afternoon, even if it is only to the mailbox and back, not very far but it's a start. Thanks

    Hi Darlene, I am so happy we're friends as I've seen you in some of the Challenges. . .I also am struggling as still have over 100#s to lose. The challenges do help me and I also have an accountable Buddy and we exchange our meals and total calories for the day. She tweaks and gives me good ideas along the way. I hope you are walking to the mailbox every day. . .I only wish I could walk unaided but need a walker or a cane. We have quite a few things in common as I've been divorced over 15+ years. I also have arthritis in most of my joints and need both knees replaced as well as a broken bone in my spine. . .I'm sure it's more than you wanted to know--LOL!! My weakness is exercise as I'm inconsistent about doing them and I'm not sure why as the sit down exercises do help me feel better afterwards. Please let me know if you have any questions or need support in any way as I love helping people. . .Take Care and enjoy the 4th of July. I don't get much support from family or my few friends so I count on my Spark friends for that. I'm not doing anything tomorrow but need to get right back on Track as since I've got back on Friday from a 3 day family get away I haven't exercised at all.

    Almost a year ago, I started just by walking a short distance. It took me three times as long as it would now, but I did it. It looks like you have a great support here! emoticon

    Darlene, I'm with you. I am doing chair exercise, only about 5 minutes at a time but I do it 6 times a day most days. Walking is very hard for me but its gonna get better. We are family so call on us whenever you feel discouraged. I have weeks that I gain, weeks that I stand still and weeks with good losses. No matter what the scale says I just keep going. emoticon

    Darlene...walking to the mail box is really a good start. It is how I started. AND..then step by step I could go a itty bitty bit farther. SLOW and EASY is the trick to it all. I know you can do it.

The other trick for me is to just wake up and slap a big old smile on my face....whether I feel like doing it or not. Sometimes....its that POSITIVE attitude that can KEEP you going!

    I'm 66 and had given up also. I know how you feel, and hope to win this battle right along with you. I also have set a goal to lose 15 pounds by the end of September.

This team has been so supportive. Let's start walking every day.
I walked half a mile yesterday and it took me a long time, but I know I'll be in better shape by September.

    I think you need a penpal or two to make you want that walk to the mailbox even more. I'm game if you are. Let me know what you think. I used to do this for a friend who was sick and I would send her the craziest cards of all varieties just for fun, didn't matter what the occasion was of the card, even old Christmas cards. Are you interested?

    Wanted to wish you the best on your new journey! And all journeys begin with that 1st step - and then you keep on walking :^) My Aunt is 83 and has just started a walking program to lose some weight. She always tells me it is never too late to start a new phase in one's life.
