Nothing Tastes as Good as Thin Feels

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Several days ago, our friends called to ask if they could come over. We assured them how delighted we would be. It was after lunch but before dinner so we figured we woould eat later. About 5:00PM they called back to say they were finishinng something and would be over as soon as tthey finished their task and dinner. We felt we should still wait with preparations for our dinner. At about 6:30 PM they came over bringing us a large platter of blonde brownies or bar cookies or something.

Anyway, the point is that after they left, I was quite hungry and was now confronted with a warm, good smelling temptation! All I could think was, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and I thought it over and over and over! I made it through the rest of the evening and managed to send the goodies home with the neighbor kids the next day without even having a nibble.

It may not always work, but it did work that time. What do you think? Might that work for you? Want to try it? Best of luck! emoticon emoticon

Excellent attitude, Edie. I'm a big fan of having a binge day. When tempted by sweets or other naughty stuff, I tell myself that I can have it, but not now. One day per week, let yourself have some of the things you love. In moderation, of course.

Complete denial will always keep you craving. That craving can be eliminated if you focus your attention on someting positive (as you did, Edie emoticon ), and you know that in two days you may have a brownie.

The big question is, 'Who is in control?' The answer always is, 'YOU ARE!'

That was terrific self discipline Edie. I am very proud of you and will keep that foremost in my SP instructions. It takes radical thinking to overcome our will. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good job!! Like you said, at least it worked that time. Each time you have success, it builds your confidence in yourself, so hopefully it will get easier each time you are confronted with decisions like that.
