You have gotta love kids, don't you? My dearest daughter has returned from Las Vegas with her best bud and now has joined up with another good bud (they returned last night after midnight - these days since school has let out has been horrible for my sleeping patterns...2AM bread party and now this!) - anyway...I've barely had a chance to talk with her as she hasn't been separated from this gaggle of girls....and now, get this, she is insisting on camping out tonight in our side yard. Our property is surrounded by a 9 foot wall all around and is gated where it isn't walled, so it is quite safe. And our lot is about an acre, so it is possible to think you are away from civilization. However, she has an extension cord running into the tent and a lamp in there as well (with a shade, from her room) as well as other amenities from the 21st century. Hardly roughing it...oh, and they plan to leave the front door open so they can access a downstairs toilet and, likely, the kitchen.
I'm thinking it's funny that she's been staying in the Paris hotel attending "high tea" and dining on lobster these last few days and now wants to camp out in the yard. Is this a case of Yin and Yang? Or just 14 year olds being 14 year olds? Either way, I'm glad they are having fun. And I'm thrilled to have her back home!
The downside to having them outside is I can't enjoy their giggles. Wait, did I say that? The upside of having them outside is I may actually get some sleep tonight! They may not have school tomorrow - but still need to get to work - and I have a videoconference with Europe at 7AM --- as in I need to be IN the office at 7AM -- argh! Perhaps having them in the tent is the best possible option after all!
Ah, wouldn't sleep tonight be fabulous??
