Last week I found out I have multiple allergies, causing inflammation, which in turn causes pain and makes it hard to lose weight. NO KIDDING! This past week has been an adventure in exploring new ways of cooking and eating.
I cannot have the following:
Beef or any products coming from beef, i.e., dairy
Pork, lamb, wild meat
Wheat or spelt or anything containing them
Oils or fats except for canola and sesame
Sweeteners of any kind
Starchy veggies including corn (does that mean cornstarch, too? I have to find out)
Sweet fruit, bananas, tangerines, raspberries, melons, and more
I can have:
Goat milk and goat products (cheese, butter)
Rice and non-wheat pastas
Poultry and seafood/fish
almond, rice, soy milk and cheeses
Avocados, sesame and canola oils
Grains except wheat and spelt (corn?????)
Citrus fruits, most of them
Other fruits, not too sweet
Green tea (coffee, only one cup a day; no black tea)
It has been an adventure in shopping and cooking. With these restrictions, it is almost impossible to eat too many calories in a day.
I lost 5 pounds the first few days, but have been stuck at the same place since then. So I'm am upping my exercise.
Nice side effect of all this: so far my pain has been considerably less.
Breafast: oatmeal, goat milk, strawberries
Lunch: turkey green chile cheeseburger (goat cheese) on rice bread toast, coleslaw (homemade mayo), cucumber yogurt salad
Dinner: tomatoes and shrimp on rice pasta, salad and lemon dressing
Snacks: Finn crisp, soft goat cheese, apple, cherries
So, it IS doable!
