Something I do to add steps to my day is be inefficient. When I'm at work, I purposely go the long way to a meeting, th rest room, or wherever. I park far from the door. And I deal with people in person (at their cube) instead of sitting still and calling them on the phone. (I walk fast so I'm not wasting a bunch of time on the clock abnd so it might boost my metabolism a little more.)
At home, if there's something I need upstairs, I go up, come back down, and then go back up to get what I need. Even going to the car, I can detour past the mailbox (which is a good 40 or 50 paces away).
So, that's my way of artificially adding walking to my day. Have a good one!
