Oops, How Embarrassing :/

Sunday, June 12, 2011

This is the 30th year the American Eagle at Great America (Six Flags) has been operating... I know this for 2 reasons. First I was 10 its first season and we were there with my Grammie. (Her car got stopped just before the reached the top of that wonderful first climb) The second.... well it has been widely publicized that this is its 30th year.

We were at Six Flags this past Thursday and Friday for my DS double digit getaway. He didn't want to go on many big rides Thursday but did go on Demon and the American Eagle with other in our family. I really wanted to go on but had a bad sinus headache and really didn't want to temp fate so bowed out. My only rides Thursday was the train and carousel.

So Friday comes, after 9 hours of sleep I woke up with a worse head and now stomach cramps.... Uggh I really ReALLY wanted to go on rides today. I was awake before everyone else so headed to Starbucks for a caffeine fix, later my SIL gave me some sudafed and Execdrin, 4.5 hours later my headache finally was gone and I was ready for rides. First stop, the WHIZZER first I rode with my DS then my DN each taking turns riding by themselves. Later I get in line for the American Eagle.... finally I love this ride. The wait isn't too long, our car pulls up I go to sit down, and while I could fit.... it definitely wasn't comfortable so I tell my DS, Sorry mom can not go on this ride, and we walk through. When we got to the exit I told him why. As I was waiting for our family to get back from their adventurous ride I watch as 2 people in other cars had squeezed themselves in and had to get help to get out. Oh My, I was SO glad that I had not tried that. I don't know what would have been more embarrassing. So needless to say on my next several rides I was very leery of if I could even fit or not and I did. I rode the Demon my second favorite ride and the Dark Knight (I don't really like that one but the kiddos sure did enjoy it and that was why we were there). Then my headache started to come back so it was time for a break in action and do some shopping :)

Well my resolve is to lose enough inches by my next visit to comfortably ride the American Eagle and Hopefully by August.... Fright Fest at the latest...

Praise God that you're here now and actively making a difference in how you treat the holy temple God gives us . . . you're eating and moving better. As for the embarrassment, sounds like you handled it with some exceptional grace. WooHoo! Now I pray that healing for those nasty headaches takes place.

I grew up in the area and we used to ride the coasters all the time. I now live in Wisconsin, so I don't get to GA, but we sometimes get to the Dells once a year. My new favorite coaster is Hades - it goes under the parking lot for a long time and is also a wooden coaster. The last time I went was the first time my daughter would ride big coasters. I was so excited that I rode a few too many and learned that I am not as young as I used to be. :)
