MD Anderson Cancer Center and The Houston Zoo

Monday, June 06, 2011

Today my husband celebrated the six month anniversary of his bone marrow stem cell transplant with a trip to the hospital for a morning of tests and an afternoon transfusion. My daughter and I accompanied him to his morning appointments, and then he went to the Apheresis area to receive two units of blood. He generally sleeps through transfusions and therefore didn't mind when we decided to walk to the zoo. Not only did we enjoy our several hours looking at animals, but we also got in our daily exercise requirement (my daughter started SP this week). I'm happy I found a way to mesh the hospital visit and our Sparkpeople goals.

I'm so sore tonight! What a walk!

What a wonderful way to take an experience that can be taxing into a wonderful memory and get exercise as well. emoticon
