A much needed break...with exercise!

Sunday, June 05, 2011

DH and I went away for a few days to Southern Utah. I just felt I needed a long weekend get-away to unplug from everything and just chill. Well, chill might not be the right word in Southern Utah, it was HOT down there! We had such a lovely time, though, and I'm always happy to know what my physical capabilities are.

We walked all over the place, ate pretty good (eating out gluten free is challenging) and rested, recharged, even read for fun!

A few photos:

Park Avenue, Arches National Park, Utah

This was part of a hike we took. After walking slightly uphill for awhile we came to these stairs. I did climb them...but by the time I got to the top my ankle was complaining, so I turned around. Wanted to make sure I could keep walking the entire two days, which I did!

DH wandering around Goblin Valley

This is one of the things I love most about the Rockies...coming upon these old homesteads that people lived in and loved in and walked away from. We also visited a very old cemetery...I know, I'm a little weird about this stuff, but I love it!

So relaxed for a change....I know tomorrow it's back to life as it is, but the break was wonderful!

Oh a gorgeous area of the country! We went to Arches a couple years ago. LOVELY! And my sis and visited Ryholite NV once to see an old ghost town. Gotta love some of that stuff.

Glad you were able to walk about for the two days and even better that you had a good time! "Report time" will be here before you know it, darn it! LOL emoticon

That looks like it was a fun weekend. I love to spend time outdoors too. Only been to Utah to switch airplanes, lol. But I went to a park like that in Idaho once! So pretty. I'm glad you had such a good time.

Oh, it looks so beautiful there. My DH is going to Utah for business this week but he never has to do anything like this. I had no idea it was so pretty.

It sounds like you had a great weekend. I hope those good relaxed feelings carry through into your week.

It sounds like a perfect getaway. So glad it was sunny and warm, though. Much better than cold and wet. Haven't been to Arches in years. It was fun when I was there. Did make the hike to Delicate Arch, but don't like heights and the last bit was pretty bad for me. Don't know why.

The old homesteads have such stories to tell. Wish I knew the stories behind them. I like the old cemeteries also. It is fun to see who is there and see some of the history behind them. Haven't been to one there, though.

Have a great week.

It's great you had a wonderful weekend.

My sister and her family are planning a hiking vacation in that area. I'm not sure when, but it sounds like it might be a week or ten days worth. One of my nieces lives in SLC, so she and her husband have been scoping out the area.

I was in that area on a college workshop thirty some years ago and we went to Arches and Natural Bridges and a few other places in the area, but not Zion. We were there the early part of July and it was HOT!!!

I hope that your weather is warming up, but not too much. We had 80 today for the first day this year...

Have a good week.
