This past Thursday, I had a new experience. I participated in my first Zumba class.
I had been curious about Zumba for about a year. My best friend had been trying to coax me into going with her for about a month. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up.
It turned out that my fears were unfounded. I highly recommend it. Even though this is a high energy form of aerobics it is very doable. Every few minutes there is about a 30 second break. This gives the participants time to catch their breath and get a sip of water. The breaks are what allowed me to complete the entire class. I wasn't always graceful. My steps weren't always in sinc with everyone else but, I never stopped moving. I had a blast!
At the end of class the instructor took time to ask me what I thought of the class. I told her that I do not usually sweat. The entire group laughed. I was sweating 5 minutes into the routine, as was everyone else.
I enjoyed the class so much that I paid for the entire month. I will return Tuesday. The classes are one hour long two times a week.
