Two tornadoes ripped through my city. This is what is left.

Help came from as far away as Boston (100 miles away from Springfield)

This man's friend lived in this apartment. He was on the phone with him when the roof came off.

The "X" means the building is not safe for search and rescue.

A crushed car

South end community center.

A black hawk takes off from the basketball hall of fame.

The national guard

roof tops just... gone.

a trapped car (on the right)

Homes are lost, neighbors are displaced.

Veterans Golfcourse, every tree is halved.

South Branch Parkway.

This happened on my birthday, and I grew up in Southampton, right near Northamton mass. Who would have ever thought that could happen in western mass???

I've posted on the teams and my page about it too. I was at UMass Amherst and we had to go to the basements of our buildings because a funnel cloud was spotted. We were spared any damage thankfully. You did a great job with the pictures. I like the format and the borders and everything. There are so many sad stories coming out of this disaster, and a few good stories of heroism too. It will definitely be with us for years to come.

I had family strung along the entire 39 miles of tonado path but everyone is ok. After seeing your pictures I am even more thankful. We were in Sturbridge driving on I-84 about 15 minute before it hit there. The sky looked bad but we were unaware of anything. As soon as we reached the Vernon CT boarder the sun was shining again so we stopped to eat. That is where we learned of the events.

The Governor and 2 state Senators where in the black hawk and landed at the Basketball Hall of Fame.
They came from Boston the day after to check for damages and send relief.
I live just the other side of Westfield and it was very scary.
Thanks for the pictures

Unbelievable! I live south of Boston and we got lots of thunder, lightning, and rain, but not nearly the wind and destruction you did. I'm glad you're safe. Thanks for sharing! Pioneer Valley is in my prayers emoticon

I'm so sorry :( I also live in MA, but I live north close to the NH border so we didn't get much more than crazy lightning. My husband and I were glued to the TV with all the warnings and footage of tornadoes touching down... My heart & prayers go out to you, your family, and your communities.

I am glad that you are ok, but I think Mother Nature is extremely upset with us humans lately.

Hang in there and I hope that your city gets back to "normal" soon.

I am so sorry for you and your community. It seems like the midwest is just reeling right now. I live in Nebraska and a lot of out state is either underwater or about to be due to the flooding of the Mississippi. I wish everyone relief and safekeeping.
