Summer Exercising A&I Blog...

Thursday, June 02, 2011

This week I decided to kick things up a notch...I wanted to get back on the exercise train. However, the extreme heat and humidity (Heat Index in the 100's) derailed my attempts to want to do much of anything. Befittingly, the A&I blog challenge topic is Summer Exercising...

Do you like the summer heat or do you spend most of your time in the cool, air-conditioned indoors? How has your exercise routine changed now that summer is here? I am not a fan of the heat and humidity. It makes me want to stay indoors. Today has been a beautiful day and I've thoroughly enjoyed it! It did get up to the late 80's but without the haziness and heat of earlier in the week. I was glad to get in a 15 min walk with DD! But for the most part, I would prefer to be indoors during the summers here in Northern Virginia.

I love to walk in the fall, but unfortunately, by the time I get home from work, it's starting to get too dark. In the spring, I have allergies or if I have to take DD hers are 10x's worse than mine. I wouldn't mind having a summer with today's weather. We shall see what God has in store for us!

I don't partically like the heat but it is sure better than the winters. Last year it got up to 116 degrees. I'm hoping that it doesn't get that high again. I like to come in and cool off in AC. Hope you have a great day.

Summer can be tricky sometimes! It's 90 here in Indiana in June..very odd. I'm hoping for high 70's or low 80's. But it's better than winter!

The humidity does make it more difficult, thats for sure. I know how you feel with the allergies. I think most people i know here in Michigan have some sort of allergy issue. Its rough, but we can do this!!!! Keep going!

I love walking outside too but the heat combined with the humidity does make it hard. You should live in Colorado, New Mexico or Arizona where you don't have the humidity like you do in the Midwest and on the coast. I'm sorry your daughter has such bad allergies. Maybe she'll grow out of it as she gets older. Keep up the great work though!! You are doing great!!!!

I wish we could get the weather and the daylight to coincide, so it was light out when it was cool out, so we can exercise more in the spring and fall!

That said - any time you want to walk with me in the evening, shoot me a message!

It is so hard to exercise in the summer heat. Here in AZ I find that just about when June hits I have to either find some creative way to exercise at home, or join the gym. I think I am going to have to start getting up before the sun in order to walk outside.

I'm with you on the heat. It use to not bother me as much, but as I've gotten older it just saps the energy out of me, unless I'm gardening...then I can go for hours without even realizing it. But I'd never garden if it was 100, and especially with the humidity high.

Isn't it so gorgeous out today? This humidy felt outright suffocating and adding jogging to my walking was just not possible. I'm so glad we get a little break in the higher temps :)

Please continue to take care of yourself.
    Enjoy the moments:)

I can't take the heat lately...it seems to trigger my hot flashes! I think I will be exercising indoors a lot this summer.

I love being outside, but the heat and humidity is crazy and makes it so hard. Remember when we started C25K last year and how humid it was??? No wonder we never finished!

I love having the gym to go to. The classes are super, super cold so even with working out like crazy and being hot, it's nothing like outside. Then I can jump in the shower and the pool. No matter what hours I work, I can find time to go with their hours. Just need to motivation :-)

I used to love the cold...till my Fibro decided for me that warmer weather is what I have to handle. (I agree you can only take so much off). I sure hope that your temps do go down some....that is way to hot..and that humidity makes it hard to breathe. My DD must be like yours with the allergies...except hers are year round and has asthma to go with....does your daughter have that awful asthma type allergies? I am so sorry that windows cant be opened when you would like but we will do anything for our children wont we.

Awesome Blog. Same here. The heat index here in Clarksville Arkansas was 101 today with a temp of 90. Great job on getting in a walk out in nature. I know you can do this.

Great blog, Simone! I love walking outside also. Normally with my little dog Katie! Hopefully by this time next week I can give DH a break on the dog walking.
