In January 2009 I weighed 241 pounds. Through minor changes in my diet and major changes in my exercise program by August 2010 I weighed 190 pounds. (Woo Hoo! Only 10 pounds away from my personal weight loss goal.)
Between August 2010 and December 2010 I repeatedly gained and lost the same 5 pounds despite exercising at least 8-10/wk taking strength classes, cardio classes and even yoga classes at the gym.
I began 2011 weighing 190 pounds. In February I met a personal goal by completing my first half marathon I mostly walked but Woo Hoo! anyway. LOL I was on a roll, feeling good.
But......in March 2011 my health challenges began. I was hospitalized and had several medical "procedures." Since then, I have been unable to exercise (except slow walking) and, until recently, I was unable to cook so I mostly ate fast food. Therefore, I've gained 9 pounds. (well, that and all the non-healthy snacking I've been doing since I've basically been stuck in the house.)
Yesterday, I joined Weight Watchers. This is new to me, but I am hopeful. Since I can't exercise like I want to, at least I can get a handle on what I put in my mouth. I was disappointed to learn that my PointsPlus daily amount was 29 (this is the lowest anyone can have). Despite my doubts, I was able to easily stay within my points value and, surprisingly, I wasn't hungry.
Today is June 1, 2011 - Day two of my new program. My goal is to lose 14 pounds by my 45th birthday which is about 10 weeks away. I'm feeling optimistic. I've never really lost any weight without very strenuous exercise. This will be a first for me.
