Ouch, my back ;-)

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

The last few weeks have been very hectic and I hardly had any time to spend in my vegetable garden or go jogging. But I have lots of time this week, a good time to sort out the vegetable beds and get into the jogging habit again.

Unfortunately, I've also been having back problems the last few weeks which wouldn't disappear, so I decided to go to the doctor to have it checked out and to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

He told me in no uncertain terms:
- take anti inflammatory tablets (ok, no probs)
- rest (hmm)
- no jogging (gutted, but had a strange feeling he might say that, as I had to abandon my last attempt)
- no working in the garden (What, No!!!!)

All my good intentions for this week gone. If I had rested my back for two weeks, maybe laying on the beach with a book (his words) the pain would most likely have gone already. But a) I can't afford a beach holiday, and b) even if I did, I couldn't lay there for all that time, that just isn't me.

So, that's my week ruined, although he did allow me ONE HOUR'S work in the garden - as long as I behaved and didn't bend down stupidly.

Me behave? Oh well, if I must ......

I'm so sorry. There must be something in the water as I've been having hip pain and
not sure why. I laid low all weekend and today it seemed better. We shall see. Hope yours is short-lived as well.

I read this a laughed! Not at you, nor your pain. I laughed b/c THAT is pretty much what I've been having to do for MONTHS!

You'll be fine; IF you follow Doc's orders!

Can you go for a walk?
Did he give you stretches you can do?
Will icing, help?
How MUCH resting do you need to do?

Am I asking too many nosy questions??

Can you still do housework? I couldn't.
Can you eat chocolate? I couldn't, for a different reason.

Hope you like to read!

I hear you. I am having back troubles too! So frustrating when you want to do something and you can't. I do hope yours gets better and do get some rest.
