Today I met a fat girl at the gym. I don't mean that in a derogatory sense. She was , from what I could tell, in the upper part of the overweight category of BMI and about 30 years old. She was teaching the step aerobics class I just started. Not taking...teaching. Every person in the class was in the healthy BMI range and most were in good shape and thin. And yet this woman was teaching the class.
She was incredible. She had high energy and was encouraging all of us to keep up with her and she clearly had major muscle tone under the fat. She hardly seemed tired by the end. I assume, from the way that she moved and spoke, that she was once even heavier and she had whittled herself down to this weight by becoming fit. I thought it was so amazing that she was leading the class and becoming fit. She was a huge inspiration to me.
I am really excited to go back to the Sunday class. It's not quite as intense as the class I go to on Wednesdays taught by a militant size-0 coach, but it was still tough (I burned about 360 calories) and I felt amazing afterward and motivated to become fit. I'm dragging my mom to the class next Sunday.
