So i took a little mini-vaca trip to Savannah, Georgia this weekend and had a BLAST! It has something to do with the company I kept...yaay for good company! I only wish I had a little longer to enjoy myself.
I arrived on Friday night around 11:30pm, so I was only interested in crashing

at that point...which I did.
Saturday was the big day; we didn't have any plans so we ended up browsing through one of those tourist brochures. We axed ideas of riverboat lunch tours and haunted tours to find ourselves at the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum. The Mighty Eighth were a pivotal force in helping to win World War 2. Yeah, I know I'm totally a nerd!

I was thinking we'd browse around for an hour or so since it was a self-guided tour. Well, we ended up enjoying the history, the presentations and the stories of a real live WW2 war vet so much, we were there for about 4 hours! We only left because we hadn't eaten and were hungry.
Here's a pic of me in front of a propeller of a B-17 that was a bomber plane used during WW2 (this one is being restored and happens to have been the 5,000th one manufactured in Savannah):
My favorite part was the tribute/displays dedicated to "The Fly Girls". These were about 1,000 women who fought inequality to be classified as 'civilians' even though they flew missions and helped our country during the war. In other words, these chicks kicked butt!
After the Airforce Museum, we went to the historic district and ate at CASBAH, a Morroccan restaurant...it was delicious and the belly dancers were a great addition.
And then (yes, there's more)...we ended our eventful day by going to Tybee Beach. It wasn't like the Florida beaches that I'm used to, but what a way to end the day!
Sunday, of course, I made my way back home. It's always great to get away but there's no place like home. Back to life, back to reality *sigh*
