Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Monday, May 23, 2011

Today we are very pleased to announce the official launch of a complete diabetes-management program from SparkPeople called Spark*D.

Free for all SparkPeople members, Spark*D offers:
  • Personalized meal plans for type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes
  • Easy-to-use trackers for food, calories and carbs
  • A blood glucose tracker with printable reports that you can share with your doctor and/or diabetes educator
  • A weekly diabetes-management newsletter plus more diabetes-specific tips and articles
  • Community support from people like you

If you flagged "diabetes" during the setup of your account, you may already be in this program, but you can edit or check your settings on this page.

There, you'll also see that we've added a special program and weekly newsletter for heart health, too, which would be useful for anyone with risk factors for heart disease, including high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Be sure to check out all of our new heart health resources in the brand new Healthy Heart Condition Center, too!

We hope that you'll find these new programs and newsletters useful. If you know someone else who isn't already a SparkPeople member who could benefit from these free resources, please pass this information along. Thanks!

Hurray once again for Spark People !. Since joining spark a little more than a month ago I have found all of the guidance, help, motivation, and nutrition planning for my type 2 diabetes that I could ever hope to get. You have managed to provide a better system of organized information than I have ever found and its really starting to work for me. I have no doubts that my life is getting more fit, healthier, and happier day by day. Many thanks.By next year I will be a success story and may even be off my metformin.

This is great! My mom has diabetes and I'm always looking for ways to help her and learn more myself. She is an SP member now, too, so I'll make sure she is signed up for this! emoticon

Even though I don't have diabetes I think this is an excellent idea and much needed. I have a good friend recently diagnosed with diabetes and I will recommend that she try this out.

Fantastic!! Diabetes is such a terrible disease. Unfortunately, most people don't realize that until it's too late. This will be such a great help for those in need of learning to manage and live with diabetes. emoticon

Keep up the great work! I even introduced my Diabetes Educator to Sparkpeople! She gave it a very solid "Yes"! The Diabetes aspect is what got my attention. I don't want some mail-order food to teach me to eat. I love the ability to be diverse and enjoy the food we fix at home. I have already lost 23 pounds and love my evening walks. My insulin use has been cut in half as my insulin-sensitivity level increases and my weight drops. My gratitude and thanks to all of you! Brightest Blessings!

I originally joined Spark People as the result of a Diabetes scare. This added tool will help so many. For me, just learning the basics of health was difficult enough, and maintaining daily nutrition was hit and miss. My solution was to track and meal plan on a diabetic site, and return to Spark for information. Having it all together is fantastic! Thank you so much! emoticon emoticon

I love it!! I've been using it for weeks and have had some great success. My blood sugar numbers are finally "normal," I've lost 19 pounds and I love the immediate feedback I get by tracking my carbs (that in itself is a huge plus for me because it helps me to understand where my blood sugar numbers are coming from, whether it's normal, high or too low.) Thank you so much for developing this program for diabetics!!!

This is great! I work in a Veterans Hospital medical library and I know that obesity in America has skyrocketed - and along with it, diabetes. Thank you, as always, for keeping your finger on the pulse of what is needed and finding fabulous ways to meet those needs.
