Introducing new Spark*D program for people with diabetes

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Monday, May 23, 2011

Today we are very pleased to announce the official launch of a complete diabetes-management program from SparkPeople called Spark*D.

Free for all SparkPeople members, Spark*D offers:
  • Personalized meal plans for type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes
  • Easy-to-use trackers for food, calories and carbs
  • A blood glucose tracker with printable reports that you can share with your doctor and/or diabetes educator
  • A weekly diabetes-management newsletter plus more diabetes-specific tips and articles
  • Community support from people like you

If you flagged "diabetes" during the setup of your account, you may already be in this program, but you can edit or check your settings on this page.

There, you'll also see that we've added a special program and weekly newsletter for heart health, too, which would be useful for anyone with risk factors for heart disease, including high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Be sure to check out all of our new heart health resources in the brand new Healthy Heart Condition Center, too!

We hope that you'll find these new programs and newsletters useful. If you know someone else who isn't already a SparkPeople member who could benefit from these free resources, please pass this information along. Thanks!

I have been trying to juggle all my different health issues and not really taking care of any of them. I believe getting my blood sugars under control...and getting my weight to a healthy level will make my other ailments more manageable also. Thank you for making the Spark D program possible emoticon

Hi to everyone its been a while since I've been online. This looks like an excellent tool for diabetics. I am still struggling with controlling my blood sugar. The end of 2010 my health insurance changed and I can't afford my medication (insulin). Now it's up to me to monitor my food and exercise to help control things. Please message me if you have any ideas to help me.

My brother in law was just diagnosed with Diabetes and needs to change his entire diet and exercize regimen. He is forlorn and needs some encouragement, so I am sending this spark D info to him later today, when I get home from work. Thank you for caring so much about so many of us.

I need this, my doctor is talking shots for the first time I have been able to control my sugar with diet and exerciser but for the past year or so I have been unable to exercise as I should. My health has been bad lately and I got my step-grand-daughter with me now. I get up hurting and go to bed hurting she takes so much of my time. But I got to get going and figure some way to take her with me in the evenings I do not want shots.

    Hi Chris:

Thank you very much for adding more helpful health sites for people. My daughter is a teacher and had to go back to college and has to do reports on medical conditions. I have had her sign up on Spark people. She is Teacher on the go and she is getting a lot of information from Spark for her reports which her last one she got a 96 on it. Thank you for all the help you give to all of us. God bless you always.

How can I ever thank you enough? Sparkpeople has done for me what no other diet program has ever done, and the miracle is, not only that the program far outpaces anything out there, it's totally FREE. Thank you, from the bottom of my now less fatty heart, for all you do to help in so many ways, especially for this new Spark D feature. I am so grateful and when I reach my goal weight, Sparkpeople will get all the credit for that 125+ pounds lost. At this point I'm only 47.6 down, but I know with the help of Sparkpeople I will make it all the way to goal after so many years of trying and failing. Sparkpeople has given me hope.

I want you to know because of your generosity and dedication you and SPARKPEOPLE have truly changed my life. I am on a better track of health and well-being. One of your health articles that I read changed the course of my health. I would have never realized what my health problem was and because of you, I went to the Dr. and I am now on the road to recovery and a new lease on life. I can never thank you enough.

Thanks for the article! My daughter's best friend has been diagnosed type 1. Prior to her diagnosis, she loved eating over at my house. Now I am nervous what to serve and any information is helpful.
