Tried a new workout today

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

My gym recently added TRX suspension training. It's pretty cool and a great workout for the core and upper body, especially. For anyone who is curious what it is, here is a YouTube video (it will explain it better than I can).

Anyway...as I mentioned, this is new at my gym. They are doing demos right now to raise interest and let people know it is available. When I dropped my little one off in the kids area, the instructor was in there recruiting people so I decided to check it out. I had seen it before at another area gym and have been kind of intrigued by it ever since but never tried it.

I had fun trying it, but unfortunately, it is something you have to pay extra for - $99 or more, depending on which package of classes you buy. This irks me because I think as members we pay enough already, and I told the instructor that at the end of the session when she tried to get us to buy a package. I told her I would gladly do it if it were free. :)

Oh well! Tomorrow is is back to same old, same old. I do need to find something new to do to keep me out of an exercise rut.

Good on you for at least trying it! And for staying with your exercise program. I don't exercise long enough to get into a rut!!! Which is one of the many reasons I'm loving this TAR challenge. It makes being physical and collecting fitness minutes fun.

I had never heard of it so followed your link to check it out. Spendy but looks like a good workout. I wouldn't pay for it at the gym though.

I agree with the others that they shouldn't charge extra. You pay enough already for your membership.

I tried the TRX at our gym in a demo also. They charge extra for it as well. So I bought a TRX for home. It was much more economical than buying classes. You can get it with a piece that fits over a door. It works great. I love it. I'm glad I got it.

Man...what a tease to have a demo and then want you to pay that much more! Why even have classes included in the price if they're not all gonna be included?

I hope you find something to help you switch it up!

My gym has some extra classes like that. It's like everyone thinks they have to upsell you. Would you liek to "Super Size" your gym membership and add X to it?

If the Pilates classes at my gym were free I'd take them too! TRX training..sounds like something I should try... too bad it's an upsell!

They charge extra? Maybe to recoup the cost of getting them, but that seems insane. My gym has those, but they only have eight or ten I think and the class is always full, but they also don't charge!

I hate when they charge extra for classes at the gym. It's true, you do pay enough already.
    It does look fun, though.
