Today we had rain, so what else is new. Today we are glad to see rain. It might save us some money and my DH some hard feelings.
Yesterday DH was really busy in the yard in the morning, we knew we would be out all day. While he was in the yard he decided to set up a siphon from the in-ground pool to the street to lower the water because we are forecast rain all week off and on.
We went to our play and then out to eat. We hung out at the restaurant and stopped for some bananas on the way home. By the time we got home it was dark.
I put a chicken in the crock pot overnight and this morning I took it out to cool it so I can skim off all of the fat. I proceeded to remove skin from the bird and any other refuse because I like to feed the crows in the back yard. I got all of the crow food together and went to the back yard to throw it down.
I looked at the pool cover and it was about 2 feet down. My immediate thought was we had a ruptured pipe under ground. This pool was dug in 1976 and so it is 35 years old. We keep saying we will fill it in but we never have had a big enough issue to do just that. Our grandkids and neighbours use it but it is way too cold for me these days.
I came inside and told DH and I saw he had a shocked look on his face, he had just realised he forgot to remove the siphon last night so it was going all afternoon and through the night.
These days all of our water is metered so to fill it back to the correct level will take a lot of water and a lot of money. Now as the rain pours, we have mixed emotions. We want it to stop so the basement stays dry but we need it to rain to refill the pool.
Poor DH is mortified he did this but I told him we will throw in some trout and go fishing in it instead, unfortunately he has momentarily lost his sense of humour.
Tonight happily, he is over it.
We shall overcome this small set back and wait to see what mother Nature throws at us.
No matter what, it is a drop in a bucket compared to the many flooded areas in the south and in the mountain valleys here in New England.
Weekend is over, it was a good and busy weekend.
Now we are looking ahead to the appointments for the week. ------and the beat goes on.
