Hi, I'm new to the site but not to the struggle of losing weight. I'm looking for friends to motivate me, and I hope I can motivate others as well. My highest weight was 436 pounds. I lost down to 245 pounds, but over the last few years I have struggled with regaining 50 pounds, losing 40 of that, then regaining 45. It's a constant up and down cycle that I hope to finally break. A lot of the problem is stress from finances and work, but another part is due to hormonal changes within my body. At 49 years of age I'm finding that it truly is more difficult to lose the older you are. And the fact that I work 3rd shift makes it difficult as well, but I love working nights, so I just have to find the motivation to work that much harder. I hope to find that here. Wish me luck!

Hey there and welcome. I am 49 too and totally understand your struggle. I was having hot flashes so bad a while back I couldnt stand myself! I got the over the counter supplement called Estroven at the advice of my doctor. I take the max one in the morning and the night time one at night and I am 100 percent better.

When I first started, I just focused on getting my eating under control and then I added tracking my cardio(walking). Now I am beginning my 3rd week of a month long bootcamp that is pretty great.

Good luck here and feel free to contact me anytime! Jan

emoticon You have come to the right place. I suggest looking for a couple of Sparkteams to join to connect with people with similar goals and issues. Read lots of blogs. Track your food and exercise (this makes a BIG difference). I also suggest you read emoticon - it is a good guide. emoticon

Welcome! I work the third shift also! It is difficult when you need to sleep all day to get out there and do some walking or whatever. When I don't get outside, I use the 10 minute cardio videos with Coach Nichole under the fitness tab. Good luck on your journey!
