Where In The World is Jersey Shore?

Friday, May 13, 2011

Uh Oh it's 10 o'clock and I still haven't written my blog. What to write about?

Weigh in tomorrow. I think I'm finally losing again. (not much of a blog in that)
Healthy eating flew the coop today. (not much of a blog there either)
Meeting at work today. Tense and stressful. (nope not going there)

emoticon Just remembered, on my way to the meeting I recalled a funny/strange coincidence that I experienced years ago.

There is a nice little town in Central PA by the name of Jersey Shore. I have friends who live in the rural areas around the town. As I passed the exit off the Interstate today driving to my meeting, I remembered this story.

Many years ago, my friends who live in a little village just outside Jersey Shore told how they were awakened in the middle of the night by a stranger knocking on their door. The stranger was lost and looking for directions to get to "the shore". The stranger was convinced he must be near the ocean because of the Jersey Shore signs he'd seen along the highway. My friend explained that the Jersey Shore of the signs is a small town in CENTRAL PA and he would need to drive about 4 hours East before coming close to the ocean. It was hilarious to hear my friend relate this incident.

The rest of the story....

About 10 years later, another friend introduced me to a woman I eventually became close friends with. We supported each other through some stressful times. Once, when she was going through her divorce she was telling me some things about her ex husband. I had to laugh when she told about the time they were travelling through Central PA and her ex was so convinced they were near New Jersey that he knocked on someones door to ask directions to the shore.

Now tell me! What are the chances that I would hear that story from both sides?

It's a small world after all.

Swallow some sunshine tomorrow.

I was friends with an elderly couple that lived in Williamsport, PA. They have both gone to be with the Lord. They used to talk of Jersey Shore and like others, I assumed it was near the ocean. I never looked for it on a map.

I love when things come full circle. Glad I got my sun in early . . . the last two hours before sunset show the sky filled with thunder and lightening . . . and now a wonderful pouring rain. Guess that means I best march the last twenty minutes of my fitness minutes. 8-))

Wow! That is hilarious Ceri!! Good old Jersey Shore...not much of anything up there. I remember going there for a track meet in high school.

Hope you're having a great weekend. Mom is here visiting with us, which is wonderful. Only bad thing is we have to break the news to Emily that her pony, Buster, passed away. Ugh!! Send warm thoughts her way please! See you in a couple months!! I'm getting close to my goal!!

Hugs,
Beth

Teehee, emoticon I live about an hour from Jersey Shore in an even smaller Borough, actually the 2nd smallest Boro in PA. One of the locals was taking his wife on a mini vacation and since they had never seen the ocean (we are in the Hills) thought they would go to THE Jersey Shore as in New Jersey. Needless to say they were disappointed.

This gives me some thoughts to share in my Blog. Thanks for the morning smile and idea. emoticon

emoticon but it's not so weird. it happens pretty often if you pay attention. want another good one? I was going shopping and some moron in a cheap car got in the face of a porsche and made the driver hit a signpost. the engine got on fire instantly. guess what ? next to the porsche on the road was a fire engine, blocked in traffic, they got out in 3 seconds and put off the fire immediately. now tell me , what's the chance that your car ignite right next to a fire engine? emoticon
