Hiccups AGAIN

Thursday, May 12, 2011

I have the hiccups again, but this time it is because I ate my carrots too fast.

I am in a mood so I will post the rest in short bursts of words:

Test: kids failed, I will NEVER get tenure.

Advisee: horrible

Kick ball: lost

Bootcamp: awesome

Hiccups: go away

Lesson Plan: Osmosis Jones

Done and done.

Here's hoping that your students perform better--I agree that this system isn't fair. I hope you don't end up having to fight hard for tenure. May your hard work be acknowledged & honored!

Sorry about the hiccups.

You & Brenda are doing a 10K??? That's awesome!

Hah! I get the hiccups from eating too fast, too! Usually bread. And they HURT!

Tenure maybe no, but mostest seniority next year, yes, right?

I really LIKE that you have hiccups from carrots this time, when it was beer last time. PROGRESS! I'm so effing proud of you, it makes my chest swell. Actually, come think of it, if you could stop that, it would be great. Chest swelling is NOT going to help my weight loss progress! emoticon

Osmosis Jones?

And, YES, we are two days away from the 10K! I'm very excited!!! Aldo and I should hopefully be in Friday evening (which is TOMORROW). I don't know if you'll want to see us on Friday or if you just want to meet up right before the race. But yeah, we'll discuss all that this evening.

That tenure situation doesn't seem fair at all! Glad you enjoyed your bootcamp, that kind of workout always intimidates me!

In the past, most teachers get tenure in their third year, typically regardless of their student's success (which I am by no means advocating for). New York City has begun to base tenure almost solely on test scores, and as a mathematician who knows the discrepancies from year to year in scoring, I have big issues with the fact that I will have to fight for my tenure next year. I teach in the Bronx, and I think it is appalling that my scores are compared to the schools and students in some Manhattan schools that have significantly more resources than mine. We shall see tomorrow with how the kiddos do on Book 2...
