My 12-12 Personal Challenge

Iíve been away from SP and my SP friends for a while. Withdrew from my leadership positions. I lost my enthusiasm for posting and blogging and havenít been able to get it back. It seemed that each time I tried, some other misfortune came along and took the wind out of my sails. I, personally, physically and financially, have been doing well. My family has had some hard times, accidents, health problems, emergencies, etc. that have taken all my emotional energy.

Some contact with a few SP Friends has encouraged me and the thought that itís about time for my annual blood work and physical, along with the knowledge that itís much harder to get something back than it is to maintain it, has suddenly SPARKED my tiny little brain to ďget with itĒ again.

So here I am with my 12-12 Personal Challenge. Starts May 12th; ends June 12th. The numbers mean something to me. I guess thatís all that counts.

My goals are simple: to eat in a way thatís good for ME Ė daily; and to do the joint exercises Iíve discovered and devised to keep my knees and hips working and avoid that hip replacement surgery Iíve been told is coming.

Healthy eating for my body is to avoid Starch and Sugar as much as possible and to EAT LESS. Pretty simple. Not always easy. Does always work for my body.

    Hi Karen,
It's been a long time. I'm finally reading some of your recent blogs and looking at your beautiful. I don't think you had all of those on your page when I first "met" you.
I'm on a more "serious" site a lot of the time now, trying to overcome my compulsive eating.
I'm back to exercise.
I'm so sorry you keep getting knocked back as far as family illness is concerned.
I hope that your special time span, 12-12, brings you the results you want.

    Karen I can't express how glad I am to see you back again. I have missed you. I'm glad you have found that spark and inner voice that told you to come back and spark again. Your challenge sounds terrific. We all have to do it our way.

    Karen, so glad to have you back -- I hope to see more of your blogs because anyone with your talent for writing should not keep it hidden from the world (even if it is just our little world here at SP)!

    Good to see your blog. Best wishes from me to you. I, too, have been away--from everything actually. Getting it back is very hard. I was reading an old book last night and some comments in it "sparked" the realization that my "self talk" was defeating me, so time for a new "walk & talk". I will join you in the 12-12 challenge, ramping up today. The sugar is a real challenge for me, so no more the rest of this day! Already had a brownie with a cup of hot tea, so the morning is blown. emoticon
