“The season” has finally started. I did my shopping this weekend –
- A few different kinds of tomatoes
- Leaf lettuce
- Swiss Chard
- everbearing strawberries
- a couple kinds of bell peppers
- snap dragons, lupine and monks hood
My neighbor gave me some broccoli, and my husband put in a request for a couple of cabbages.
I started some spinach, cilantro, and parsley from seed. We’ll see how that works out. Next week I’ll try starting some squashes and some other pepper seeds I saved from last year and forgot about. I’m also thinking about testing out some beets somewhere. That might be a bit much though.
There are some other things I am hoping to get done in the yard before the summer is in full swing that are all about increasing the ease of yard maintenance and reducing mowing.
This has been the activity I have been waiting for since April started. I didn’t really get my April fix this year because of rain, so I am all excited about being able to really dive into the joys of gardening and healthy home/local grown produce! I'm thinking there may be some gazpacho happening in there somewhere; and some tabbouleh. OH YEAH!!
