The most dangerous thing you'll do all day

Sunday, May 08, 2011

Because I have a sedentary job, and enjoy sitting at the computer (Sparking, etc.), I need constant reminders of how detrimental it is to my health.

When I read NINJA-NED's blog, it reminded me of the heart attack I had a little over one year ago!

I want to share this important information with my SparkFriends! emoticon

This is such an important thing to know, and it is a risk factor we are 100% able to control. Thanks for posting!

Yes, I read 60 years ago that one burns more calories when standing and I was glad to hear that reinforced. Guess that is why I never became a TV watcher.

I have heard about this too. I like to use a swiss ball to sit on, but can't do it at the club, but I do very little sitting there anyway as I am up every round picking up slips or taking calls. When I play bridge, I always take the position that moves after each round. Sitting actually bothers my hip more so I don't like to do it for long periods of time.
At the forum on osteoporosis, there was far too much sitting, and when they called for a break, I got up and walked around rather than head for the munchies.
Have a fantastic Sunday!

Thanks for sharing. More incentive to ask for a standing desk at work.
