Lose inches before pounds

Saturday, May 07, 2011

I've been increasing my workout routine slightly but I'm sad to say I don't see the scale changing yet. However, I can tell I have lost some inches, not much, but enough to notice when I look in the mirror and wear certain items of clothing. I guess that's what usually happens to me I tend to lose inches before I lose pounds. Hopefully I can start shedding some pounds soon. (I think I may need to cut my calories down though because maybe it's too high)

this same thing is happening to me! So glad i am not alone and the encouragement is wonderful! I started 7 weeks ago, have run 50 miles, lift weights two times a week, drink water, eat 1500 calories a day - and no cheating! not even a diet soda! Discouraging - i do see some definition but no weight loss ARGH!!!

Loosing inches means muscle is being built. This is long, lean look. Weight is a number .

if you are loosing inches, I would not cut calories, the pounds will come off. Also a quirk with my scale. sometimes it doesn't really weigh me it just gives me my last weight. I get on with one of my dumbbells and after the weight changes I get off put the dumbell down and then I'll weight different than last time. or the batteries are dying. do you have an eletronic scale?

Actually it doesn't sound like a bad thing to me - it means you look slimmer and more fit. isn't that more important than the scale?

Inches are way more important than pounds, in my opinion! Keep it up!
