50+ Senior Expo
Yesterday I attended a 50+ Senior Expo. If you have them in your area and are over 50, they are certainly worth checking out. They are geared towards seniors, and have tons of information (and free goodies) about Social Security, retirement, home improvements, health insurance, funeral homes, home health care, etc. Many give away free pens or pencils, mugs, cups, bag clips, tablets, reusable bags, even light bulbs. Some have bowls of candy and many have raffles. I don't enter many of them, as I find myself overrun with phone calls of them wanting to sell me their products. Some have artists doing caricatures, some even have students doing massages, and you can usually get your blood pressure checked and your bone density. Some have seminars, and there is usually some kind of entertainment. All free. I attend at least one every year (never need to buy pens or tablets!) Yesterday I went with a friend, and we spent almost 2 hours walking around, collecting goodies and talking to vendors about various things. We both had massages, won tickets to a local live theater performance (they have 'Chicago' coming in July.......my FAVORITE musical!) and got some screenings done, portraits drawn,
even ran into people we knew. It was a great girls day out. Bottom line is they are fun, you can get tons of information and goodies, and they are free. Lucky me, I have one to attend again next week!
