Good Doctor Visit

Thursday, May 05, 2011

I spent Tuesday driving the 3 hours from Devils Lake to Fargo to see a cardiologist about the results of the stress test I had 2 weeks ago. My friend (and primary doctor) told me the results were not completely "normal", so he wanted me to see a specialist.
After reviewing the report, asking all kinds of questions about my activity level and any symptoms (which I DO NOT have), listening to my heart, and checking pulses everywhere, he told me the good news.
He said that although there is a slight reduction in the blood flow to a small area low in my heart, the stints in my coronary arteries are doing just fine, and my heart is functioning at a good level. He said as far as he was concerned, I should have the knee surgery and keep up the activity level I am at.
Then I stopped at my friend's clinic just for a visit and during that one he checked my records and took me off one more of my medications!!! MORE GOOD NEWS!!!!!!
I will have the rest of my pre-op physical in about 2 weeks and then it is onward to the new knee in June!!!!

Great news! As someone who has two knee replacements, I say go get it done. The recovery isn't fun, but I'm back to walking my beloved trails again with no knee pain whatsoever! Do all the PT you can after surgery to speed the recovery. I wish you best of luck and Godspeed on your surgery.

Greg I am so happy for you. When I lost weight my medications were reduced and some stopped. I did write a small blog today though about a problem titled "Maybe you can help me"
I see the eye doc today and my internist next week so looks like we are keeping busy with the doctors or else keeping the doctor's busy.
