His Love Letter to me for my 1st Sparkversary

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

What follows is the love letter that my husband wrote to me for my 1st anniversary and 100 pounds lost with SparkPeople. A few months into this journey, I finally realized that the burden of my extra weight was one felt by all those who love me-- until then, I thought that it was all about ME. I honestly didn't think about how 100+ pounds of excess weight on *my* body affected my family.

I'm sharing this letter because perhaps a fellow Sparker feels or felt the same way I did. I know we've all heard that "You've got to do it for YOU"-- but, what if that isn't enough? I know it wasn't enough to keep myself from putting on so much weight in the first place! So, sometimes, we have to do it for the people who love us so much-- sometimes that extrinsic motivation can be what is needed to vault up out of the pit and on towards better health, and that motivation can spark something inside us that IS enough!

"Wow! Wow! Wow!

That's the best I can do to describe how I feel about what you have accomplished during the last year, and how that has impacted your confidence and outlook, our family, and our marriage.

I am so incredibly proud to have you on my arm as my wife, and not just because you have gone from being beautiful to being BEAUTIFUL. It's also because of the great friend and inspiration you are to others, the wonderful mommy you are to our beautiful children, and the fantastic wife you are to me. Thank you for taking the steps to ensure that you can continue to fulfill those roles as long as possible.

I love you with all my heart, and look forward to what God has in store for us and our family with great anticipation.

Every day with you means the world to me!

~Tom xoxo...

"Wow! Wow! Wow!" Words of a very wise man and the exact expression of what I am feeling at this moment! Congratulations from that place in me that is the simplest and purest...that place that God resides. This is one of the best things I have read on spark and I am so thankful that you were willing to share that intimate moment with us! I absolutely CANNOT wait, as I continue my own journey, for the time when my equally awesome hubby can write me a similar letter! God bless you! And thank you for making my day! SparkOn!

I think that is the greatest thing I have read on Spark. I have become so fit--trying to inspire my husband cause I worry that he is a heart attack waiting to happen. I know I would say similar things to my hubby if he were to drop 60 pounds or so--I really want to keep HIM in my life!! Blessings to you and yours.

What a great husband! What a marvelous gift. And how true - becoming fitter, healthier and stronger is something we do for others as well as for us. You just showed us how.

You are amazing, by the way, having 8 kids and doing this! I can't even imagine. I have 2 and babysit another and feel like I am going to lose it sometimes. You are superwoman!
