Target Practice

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Ever had minimal sleep for a week and a half? Hubby and I are both there and it's taking a toll on us. We are totally exhausted. More brain-dead than usual. LOL.

The sun came out today but it was chilly. We still are under flood warnings.

My son was home today and we had few phone calls and none from pests so it was nice. I got to rest even if I was exhausted.

My husband and son are going to have to be away from home some so we had a target practice today as hubby wants to be sure that we can protect ourselves. I was the worst, of course, but hubby says that I am far better than the vast majority of women. Kind of sexist but I'm sure he is right. I did get 3 bulls eyes and was always close but my son got a lot and my husband even more. Did I mention that my hubby was offered a job at Silver Dollar City as a black powder marksman?

I'm also learning some self defense strategies designed especially for me by a retired police officer/martial artist. At first he was afraid that I would be too nice to be cruel to an attacker but that myth was soon debunk. If it requires gouging someone's eyes out so be it. Burnt dead bodies. Veins in my teeth. LOL.

In self defense your targets are always the eyes and groin! Use your charms to get close to the target, and then be ruthless.

Can you believe I was a former red/black belt?

If my Mom lived a bit closer to you, I'd share her number. She's a crack shot and has a permit to conceal and carry. You two would definitely keep the homestead trouble-free.

Well, as trouble-free as it would be with you two in cahoots.

I am sorry that you have to arm yourself, but that will keep you safe with dh and ds away. Glad you are learning some self-defense tactics as well. Hopefully you won't need to use them. emoticon emoticon

You really need to move closer to me. Where he'll never find you. I'll protect you with my Ruger .357.

I shuddered at the thought you must arm yourself, do be careful. Hopefully you have good dead bolts and a handy cell phone. I hope you have call waiting and caller ID too, that way you can screen everything that comes in. Sometimes people will check to be sure you are around and at home so suggest to DH and sone when they are gone and call you, tell them you will call them right back. Use your cell phone to call back and forth and keep it charged that way the house phone will tell the story. I hope you have caller ID. HUGS Pat , take care, try to get some sleep even if it is napping because you will need to be alert. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yep, if you are going to have a gun to protect yourself, you need to know how to use it. Direct quote from DH in the past. I still have yet to learn out to use my gun. It is locked up in the gun case.

I need to do this same thing. Now that warmer weather is here, I need to get outside and do some target pratice.

Thanks for being such an inspiration.

I believe you are a woman who can take care of herself!! I'm not a fan of staying alone but can do it. I hope all is OK--sounds ominous that son AND hubby will be gone "for a while". Thinking of you.

emoticon I hope you never have the opportunity to use it. I have taken Krav Maga for almost 2 years and believe it to be best! (it is Israeli self defence)

I'm glad you are thinking defensive tactics. Anything to stop your attacker long enough to get away works. I was serious about the wasp spray. It shoots farther than pepper spray and there's no contact. Guns do reach farther. Take care.

IT sounds as though you are still living in the old wild west!!
Is it really that dangerous still ?
We don't have guns here in OZ We used to..... till some bright Politician decide we didn't need them and totally disarmed the country !!
Hope you manage to get some rest my friend ..Methinks it is really needed .. Love and Hugs to all Susie
