Health Assessment

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

My husband and I had to go through health assessments today to keep his insurance at the rate we are paying. I was surprised at how good shape she said I was in. She said my cholesterol and blood pressure were both really good. She also said that I was doing really good with exercising. The only thing that was elevated a little bit was my sugar levels, but she said that was because of the diet I have to stick to for the colitis. I can't eat enough fiber and she went through the whole explanation again. She wasn't even concerned by my weight.

She said I should just continue to do what I'm doing and the weight will start coming off as the colitis gets more regulated. What was really neat is she said that we or I could call and meet with her or an exercise person or a nutritionist whenever and the visits would be free. I thought that would be a cool thing to do. I am going to give it 4 weeks and see where I am. If I don't get any farther, I will meet with her again. I like the fact that we don't have to pay for the visits :)

Now that's a nice outcome! You should visit her periodically if it's free. Definitely take advantage of all the help and advice you can get when it comes to your health.

I like the idea of health assessments. Good job! We're suppose to all see our physicians before beginning any major health (food and fitness) program, but so few people actually do this. May you give her pause to celebrate your success when you next check in with her. Teddy Bears Rock!

Congrats Nina., that is great news to hear. I am sure in four weeks time your weight be start to come off but I would still see a nutritionist for added help. Keep up the great work. Hugs. Sandra
