Believe It Or Not

Believe it or not, I've been participating in SparkPeople for just over 2 months now. Believe it or not, it took me almost seven months to figure out that Cathy was looking better and better because of the diet and fitness plan she was receiving from SparkPeople. Believe it or not, to date I have lost 27.5 lbs due to this program she introduced me to and to the inspiration and motivation I get from her. Believe it or not, I know that after almost 30 years of marriage, working together toward our goals through SparkPeople has drawn the bond between us even tighter. (And believe it or not, if you couldn't already tell, this is my first blog!) I started with the program just before I went back to work. I was expecting to go to work, eat my healthy, nutritious lunch, then come home after work and enjoy a nice dinner and evening with Cathy before going to bed so the process could begin again the next morning. That's when the challenge really started. The job I got was for a nightshift position, but that still seemed pretty managable. Then I found out what the hours would be... 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Well, it still seemed okay. I could have lunch with Cathy and if she wasn't too tired, I might get to see her when I got home. That was the 8 hour work day. Two weeks ago it was decided to work 10 hours per day. I was to start at 4:30 PM, but wouldn't get off until 2:30 AM. Well, I could still eat lunch with Cathy, but I couldn't expect her to wait up for me. However, at work there was a problem with our hours. We were overlapping the dayshift crews, which meant there were no vehicles or radios available until at least 5:30. So this week our hours were changed again... 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Now I am finding it difficult to be awake to meet Cathy for lunch (but I do). This is five days a week, so I have all weekend with her, but the people in charge want to move to a 6 day week. This will be scheduled to last all summer. I have to admit that SparkPeople will be one of the ingredients that helps us stay focused on each other through the summer. We look at this as a good challenge, though, since I haven't had a job the last couple of summers. Believe it or not, Spark On!!!
