I posted this on my team thread and people liked it so I thought I would repost it as a blog:
Imagine that you have a calorie "debit card" that every morning has that number of calories on it. You can "spend" your calories any way you want, but it is a good idea to eat food that will make you feel full and give you good nutrition. You have 500 calories of "damage control", it won't add to your weight but you won't lose either. Anything you "spend" over your maintenance number will become your "overdraft" (you are sitting on it). Every 3500 calories in overdraft becomes a pound of fat. Regardless of whether you write it down or not, this is the process that your body goes through every day.
I wouldn't abuse my personal finances like I do my health, yet it is much easier to go and get more money than to get a new body when you break the one you have!!!!
