and the good news is my iron is low!

I finally told Ray (my DH) that I might have to regain a few pounds because I have been feeling peaked lately - you know, dizzy, nauseous, unable to remain standing too long - well, I told him today on the way to the Blood Bank.

They check your blood for your Iron count before you can donate and mine was low - not extremely, but it is supposed to be 12 and it was 11 the first test and 10.5 the second test.

Uh-huh. I haven't been eating my Fiber One because my fiber has been better than ok with all the carrots. And, although I do track it, I haven't been checking it!

I tell you all this because it can happen to anyone. The only signs I was told to watch for being too low in weight were dizzy and nauseous - but low iron can do the same things.

1/2 cup cereal daily will give you all the iron you need. I came home and had my cereal and started feeling better pretty darn quickly.

The bad news - I had already eaten for blood donation emoticon

Just a little FYI.

4/30 - yup! got my cereal in today!
5/1 - yup! got my cereal in today too!

    I take a daily multi vitamin for women with iron . . . because I rarely eat red meat, I also tend to have low iron count. Spinach, dried apricots, lentils all help . . .

    fyi... you aren't anemic or anything even if you don't meet the 12 the blood bank requires, they told me when I failed it for low iron a couple of appointments ago: you're still healthy enough for you, just not tanked up enough to share!

I was eating all the right things, too. The next time, I passed.

    I am always cold I am anemic too but Iron pills and spinach is working on that

    You are so tiny that a few pounds won't hurt you. You need your iron count to be higher

    Better get out that cast iron skillet and cook in it rather than hit poor Ray over the head all the time, LOL

That might do the trick. We have a large cast iron skillet that I use quite a bit, but recently purchased a small one good for one to three eggs for breakfast.

Good luck getting that iron back to good levels.

    A low iron means you are less likely to rust. I do not want you rusting. You may lift your arms in the air for a picture and rust in the pose similar to the Wizard of Oz's Tinman.

Yes, I never forget. I warned you previously that I attempt humor using a machine gun approach; I shoot a number of attempts out there and hope that someone besides me finds at least one funny. My problem is I find them all funny.
