So after months of drama, being sick, lazy, and eating lots and lots of french fries, I'm finally back on track!
Over the past few months, I have managed to attend a few Zumba classes, but my eating habits were out of wack from eating out all the time and I've been preoccupied with so many other things that my exercise program went on the back burner. The only regular physical activity I've really had since late fall/winter has been dancing. I started taking salsa classes around November, but then the snow came and I got bronchitis. So that was my winter. Then in February I had a minor surgery that kept me out of commission for a few weeks, so that was my final excuse for not being on top of my game.
The past 2 weeks I have been logging my food again and staying in line with my calorie intake and nutrition goals (gotta still drink a little more water and get some more fiber). My protein intake is way up, and for the first time in a long time my muscles ache from working out. It's a good pain :)
My goal now is simple: lose 8 lbs. My wake up call was when I went to the doctor and weighed in at 138 lbs. Since then (March 29), I'm down to 135.5 lbs. and feeling great. I'm confident if I focus on getting in 3 days a week of exercise and staying on track with my calories I can meet my goal pretty quickly.
I also want to be leaner (especially around the middle), so I am going to start tracking my body fat percentage too. My workout plan is now:
- Core & More Class at the gym twice per week (full body, intense workout for 45 mins)
- Zumba once per week (more if I can find the time, I still
- Pilates or Yoga once per week (for flexibility, strength, and balance)
If I miss one of the core & more classes, I'll probably do some body weight exercises at home or hit the machines at the gym for a full body strength training workout. And on every other night of the week I'll probably be dancing :-)
Wish me luck!
