my life changing journey...slow but sure!

most people have reached their goal in the amount of time that it took me to lose 29 pounds. since 2008 when i joined spark there are alot of people who have lost 100 pounds or more and i sit and think what if..what if i had logged my food everyday..what if i had stuck diligently to it and never ever cheated even on holidays..maybe i too would be 100 pounds lighter. maybe. but how many of those people stuck with it and didn't gain any of the weight back yet. i bet not a lot. you can't maintain a strict mindset of eating that you never indulge just a little once in a while. eventually you cave and if you have restricted yourself so rigidly when you do fall of the wagon you really fall off the wagon. i would rather have that chocolate bar once a week versus saying never again and then eating 10 of them at 1 time and then dealing with the aftershock of guilt that comes flooding in. yes log your food...it does work! drink your water, exercise..make it a priority to move everyday! my goal used to be to do as little as possible on Sundays..my day of rest. now..especially with nicer weather..i crave a walk on Sundays. nothing like my monday through friday workouts but it's still enough that i am up off my a$$ and i am moving. it's amazing how spark has changed me. so yes it has taken me since 2/18/08 to lose 29 pounds but the scales going in the right direction and my out look on food, exercise and my health has changed. i am no longer prediabetic..amazing that it only took 29 pounds to help me dodge that bullet...and i no longer mindlessly put food in my mouth with out thinking about it. i can't tell you the last time i ate fastfood..i don't crave it, don't want it and have learned that there are other options. wings on friday nights..not so much anymore and i don't even miss them. it's amazing how small slow changes have worked for the better for me!
