Did You Miss Me?

Monday, April 25, 2011

Back from vacation! New Orleans was WONDERFUL!!! I think I am in love with that city!!! I WILL be going back! And husband and I had a great time at Universal Studios. Oh my goodness...SO MUCH WALKING! I got back to the hotel pretty much every night with my body screaming to lie down and, I tell you what, I could not move after that at all! Literally worked every single muscle in my body to the breaking point every day! I am convinced that this (and my craving for salads and fresh foods, due to the intense heat - 93 and sunny every day) was the only thing that kept me afloat., health-wise. I certainly did not EAT well. In New Orleans, the food was HUGE and so seemed a shame to waste money by not eating it all. Then, at Universal, we had a pre-purchased meal plan. So, to get our money's worth, we ended up eating about 6 meals a day! Yikes!

As I said, I chose salad a few times. And, although I indulged in sodas, I did make sure I alternated with ice water every refill. The first night in New Orleans I was dehydrated and very dizzy, so I made sure to avoid that throughout the rest of the trip.

All in all, I only gained 1 lb., which honestly...I consider a victory. I was worried for a minute there! Of course, I would have been much happier if I could have sustained my healthy eating habits..seeing as this is a lifestyle change and not a "diet". But I chalk it up to being a learning experience. Next time, I'll do better. For sure.

So, I'm back at it now. Did you miss me??? :)

Glad you're back and that you feel proud of your accomplishments, and you should! I skipped a week on the scale because I'm afraid to see what it will say after 4 days away at Easter! I'm really interested to go to New Orleans! I'm glad you enjoyed it! emoticon

Wow, sounds like you had a memorable vacation. I know I would gain 10 lbs with that kind of exposure to all that food. Good job with keeping the balance and still having a good time. emoticon

I'm betting your 1 pound is actually new muscle groups. Keep them toned and keep them strong!

I'm so happy for you, and glad you experienced the local flavor of everything there is to that town. Awesome, isn't it? I plan to go back someday too.

And yes, we missed you. Welcome home!
