I am sacrificing my tomato plant

Monday, April 25, 2011

I went to water my hanging potato plant last week ,it looked a bit droopy.
Well to my surprise while pouring water on the poor thing, a rustle and a flutter
was heard and seen there is a female cardinal living there now.
, and I had to check it out and there was eggs too,it seems she has kicked one egg out.I dont know why ,but i left it alone. .She looked mighty angry when i snapped this picture. so for now the tomato plant has to fend for itself, and I will patiently wait for baby birds.
Sorry for blurry pix was in a hurry and do not want to disturb her too much.

We have cardinals in Arizona too, but I have never seen a nest. I did lose my tomatoes to the javalinas though.

You are doing the right thing... what is a tomato plant compared to a grumpy cardinal...? I envy you the experience!

Those birds will nest in the strangest places. Maybe you get healthy babies and healthy tomatoes.
