Well it wasn't the most INSPIRING of days to get out on my bike, BUT: it was finally DRY! And another dry day doesn't appear to be on our horizon for another week or so...ugh!
Plus, hey it's Earth Day! What better way to celebrate than to ride on down to the fitness center, over to the office to see a few clients and then head toward home and pick up a few groceries along the way! Nice to put one of my new panniers to use: www.axiomgear.com/produc
Unfortunately a mishap along the way to the fitness center resulted in Fall #2 on my bike. I wasn't paying quite the attention I should have been paying considering I was traveling along a very busy upper Front St. Otherwise I would have been able to have stopped before this car I was riding along-side turned into me with the intentions of pulling into a strip mall. It wasn't really a big deal...I just sort of bounced off and tumbled onto the street, still somewhat astride my bike albeit sprawled on the ground instead of upright. No tears in my clothes, even though I could already feel the joys of road rash radiating from my left knee & left elbow. The driver was mortified and so worried about me. I think I was even MORE mortified and ashamed and just scooted on my way, waving aside all of her worries.
Afterward I kicked myself as it could have been a bit of a teaching moment for both of us to talk and acknowledge our errors and need to be more observant in the future. Hopefully she'll connect the dots without my input...lol!
In this rabidly litigious society I try my best to be as accepting of these minor mishaps as possible. The same goes for dings in the car, etc. I'm not going to have a meltdown and report to insurance companies every little thing. Although I realize the odds are against me, but I just hope others can be the same way.
So I went my merry way, worked out my "kinks" on the elliptical...nice hot shower felt good!
Question is, I have "plans" for tomorrow:
Since the weather is going to be inhospitable yet again I have been looking forward to savoring one of my fitness center Sat. mornings, kicking off with Spinning, then strength training and other cardio fun...including swimming which I think would feel OH so nice! After a few hours of that? Pick up a couple tons of wood pellets, load 'em up and stack 'em up at home: all 100 forty pound bags!
Let's see how I feel in the morning... :-)
Everyone have a healthy, happy Easter holiday!!
ps...trying to keep a running tally of my cycling miles as I rack 'em up this year...135 miles so far, wish it could be DOUBLE that, but I'll take what I can get!
