Hot and Dirty

Friday, April 22, 2011

We finally got the yard done. Now the hard part, keeping it green.

Thursday, the sod finally arrived. We spent nearly five hours laying it. Not an easy job, but I was determined to finish. I kept thinking of the biggest loser. What made them keep going? Well, Bob and Jillian, and a huge cash prize, of course, but what really keeps them going is their brain. The brain is the muscle that works the hardest.

Here are a few pictures of the process.

it's coming along.

we bought three pallets, the first we got down in under an hour. Then it got hot and rough.

I was finding dirt in the most unusual places. LOL

We didn't have enough for the swell, which belongs to the city anyway. I've been calling, but they haven't phoned back yet. On MOnday I'm going there in person.
Plus our pest control guy, said we may be able to get a discount from the water due to us laying down new sod. I surely hope so.

This has been one heck of a project. BUt, you see that fence in the background? Joe and I put that up ourselves. I joke, he was the brain and I was the brawn behind that one.

Lots of hugs Heidi emoticon emoticon

    Heidi
Thank you for sharing this video. You have done a beautiful job laying that grass. Your yard is awesome. Also, the fence looks very professional. I bet you will sleep well tonight.

That was a fantastic job! Thanks for sending me the invite to come see! Now I know who to call when we need landscaping done-you should go into business! emoticon That would be nice to get a discount on the water! We have been fertilizing and bug controling our yard and it is looking pretty good, some spots here and there that died out, but all in all we are so glad it keeps on turning green! Good luck in keeping all of it alive and green! I see you got the video working-were you doing the same thing I was?! emoticon emoticon

Oh, my gosh, Heidi!!! That is remarkable and looks like it was laid by professional sod layers (is there such a thing?) It was also fun hearing you talk. Strangely enough, it is just like I expected you to sound.

One thing about all the rain, snow, rain we've been getting in northern Utah, our grass looks emerald green. All my daffodils, and other spring flowers are gorgeous, vivid, and healthy.

You go, girl!
